10/26/2008 - Amsterdam, Netherlands (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Ajax handed NEC its second defeat of the Eredivisie season on Sunday at Amsterdam Arena as the club recorded a 2-0 win to keep their home record perfect.
Klass Jan Huntelaar scored his third goal of the season shortly before halftime, while Luis Suarez put the result away with a goal of his own in the 72nd minute.
With the win, Ajax moves past defending champions PSV Eindhoven and into fifth place, while NEC sits in the middle of the table on 11 points. PSV was stunned 3-2 by Roda on Saturday, leaving them with 12 points from seven games.
NEC goalkeeper Gabor Babos made a number of good saves throughout the match, including one on Suarez in the 44th minute. However, the rebound fell right to Huntelaar and he tapped the ball into the empty net right before the halftime break.
Babos then deflected Siem De Jong's shot onto the crossbar before making another fine stop on Suarez.
The keeper was not getting much help from his attack, and although he came up with a big stop on Oleguer, Suarez was able to finally beat Babos as he picked up the rebound and fired it into the roof of the net.
Vitesse remained winless through seven games as they fell 2-0 to Twente, which got two goals from Marko Arnautovic, while NAC failed to take over the top spot as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Utrecht.
Heerenveen built a two-goal lead in the first half as Danijel Pranjic and Henriques Paulo both scored, but Feyenoord rallied to score twice in the final 20 minutes, with Roy Makaay making it a one-goal game before Michael Mols scored the equalizer in stoppage time.
