Green has been out since suffering a chip fracture on the base of the first metatarsal of the right foot on May 25. It was the first time in his 15-year career that he was sent to the disabled list.

Green is batting .314 with five homers and 22 runs batted in.

To make room on the roster, the Mets optioned outfielder Ben Johnson to Triple-A New Orleans.
